Obstetrics/Gynaeocology
Södersjukhuset has one of the largest obstetric clinics in the country. Almost 6000 women give birth here every year. Here you find the full chain of care, from prenatal through childbirth to post-natal care. This care is provided in close collaboration with Sachs’ Chidren’s Hospital, which has a large department for newly-borns.
The Maternity Clinic offers resources such as the Special Prenatal Care/Ultrasound Unit, Special-BB (Maternity Unit), Psychosocial Unit and Breast-Feeding Centre, to provide support for the new mother and baby.
Södersjukhuset also features Södra-BB, a unique maternity unit that offers integrated care in a small-scale environment, focused on prenatal care, childbirth and post-natal care. The family meets the same midwife team from the early stages of pregnancy until some days after the birth.
The hospital is also home to the Emergency Clinic for Rape Victims, the first of its kind in the county of Stockholm. The clinic is open 24 hours a day, to admit women who have been subjected to acute sexual assault.
