Hand Surgery
Södersjukhuset operates the regions’s sole specialist clinic for injuries to and diseases of the hand.
The clinic performs all types of hand surgery and maintains close contact with a broad range of other special disciplines, such as orthopaedic surgery, paediatric surgery, plastic surgery and neurosurgery. The clinic has surgeons on call 24 hours a day, ready to treat acute cases.
Special fields of competence include the treatment of neuromuscular dysfunction, malformations of the hand, reumatological disorders and wrist conditions. Södersjukhuset’s Department of Hand Surgery also admits children from all over the country who are suffering from plexus injuries (damage to the nerves of the arm, normally sustained during childbirth). Other resources linked to the clinic, as a means of facilitating patient rehabilitation, include specially trained physiotherapists, occupational therapists and an almoner.
